When we tinker around with our website, and manage to build something cool, it’s natural to want to show it off. JotForm, a user-friendly website form builder, is hosting the Web Form Design Awards where you can do just that. Creating things is fun in and of itself, I remember the glory days of using basic HTML to make Myspace layouts. When you landed on my page, a soundtrack started playing and tacky animated stars shot through the purple “sky.” It was pretty bad, and I’ve seen some equally bad forms online. Luckily, even terrible forms have a shot at winning prizes and receiving the honor of the Worst Form Award.
Two days into accepting submissions for the Web Form Design Awards 2014 and over 1,000 submissions deep, the design community has really embraced the opportunities that the contest brings. Entrants have the chance to get their form evaluated by notable judges that have been successful and innovative in their fields, from executive editors of top magazines to product designers from renowned companies.
To join the contest, entrants use the recently launched Form Designer, an inventive new tool that lets even a technology novice easily create a polished form in minutes without coding or design knowledge. That expertise is implemented within the tool itself, in an exceptionally user-friendly format that is essentially point-and-click. More experienced web designers will be able to add CSS manually if they choose, creating fully customizable and original forms that have all the bells and whistles that they desire, including animation and special effects.
The grand prize of $7500 will be awarded to the Best Form, along with a lifetime JotForm Professional subscription. Other prizes include $500 awarded to each winner of the six additional categories: Best Mobile Form, Best Survey, Best Contact Form, Best e-Commerce Form, User’s Choice, and the amusing Worst Form category. No doubt people are working hard to create the most terrible form that they can come up with, complete with garish color schemes and eighties-style graphics. There are numerous additional prizes, and all awardees will receive a lifetime JotForm Professional membership!
Forms are some of the most integral and useful components of any website, and have been underappreciated for too long. The Web Form Design Awards celebrates quality (and awful in the best way!) forms and recognizes creative JotForm users that have taken forms to an elevated level.
